• Brigitte Macron makes chic style statement in leather jacket as she meets Bono in Paris

The 64-year-old, who has been married to French president Emmanuel Macron for 10 years, brought some edge to her signature streamline style as she met with the U2 frontman to discuss combating poverty and his ONE organisation at the Élysée Palace on Monday.

Bono flew straight to Paris on Sunday after U2's sold-out concert in Croke Park on Saturday night and partied until the early hours of the morning at new venue Roberta's after.

But it was straight back to business on Monday alongside his ONE colleagues as he me the fashion world's new darling, who has developed a natural knack for power dressing.

Brigitte opted for a pair of black skinny cigarette trousers, black top and grey leather jacket by French fashion house Louis Vuitton, her go-to brand - for encapsulating tailored Parisian style while still allowing her to fly the flag for her homegrown designers.

When it comes to diplomacy and patriotism, Vuitton is the smart choice. As the jewel in the crown of LVMH, one of France's most prestigious and successful business conglomerates, Trogneux's choice of designer projects all the right messages.

Vuitton is also less well-associated with dressing high-profile public figures, with Chanel and Dior having historically held the monopoly in this area.

Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld is said to know the Macron-Trogneuxs and submitted a sketch to fashion website WWD for the inauguration look, so we can no doubt expect to see her wearing the label at some point.

And one can imagine that Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior's recently installed creative director who has made feminism and women's rights a mainstay of her design message, will have plenty of ideas for dressing a presidential wife with a difference.
