Around 15,000 people turned out for the Boxing Day Races including Silvanya Hulme, left, Erin Sokolowsky and Daniella Hulme.
Forget fighting someone for the last pair of shoes in your size, high-stakes fashion had another home this Boxing Day: the races.
More than 15,000 people flocked to Ellerslie Racecourse for the Boxing Day Races, despite it being a grey afternoon.
While some went to watch the trots, Auckland's most fabulous fashionistas were there for the Fashions in the Field competition.
"It's fantastic, we're seeing a lot of coordination and colour," Fashions in the Field senior judge Lulu Wilcox said.
Seventy entrants competed in three categories - best woman, best man and best millenary - for prizes worth more than $20,000, including 100,000 Hawaiian Airlines air miles for best dressed man and woman.

Aucklander Aleisha Mitchell took out best dressed woman in a two-piece pant suit she designed and made herself, paired with a bespoke Claire Hahn headpiece with glass flowers.
Competing in Fashions in the Field was "wonderful", Grey Lynn resident Faye Ige said.

No outfit is complete without the perfect accessory - for 34-year-old Mitchell that was her daughter Lola, 1, wearing a matching floral dress.
Aucklander Franchelle Oughton loved showing off her dress designed by fashion designer mum Annette Aughton.
Best dressed man went to 31-year-old Matt Anderson, who had flown up from Christchurch for the event.
Anderson wore a custom-made suit adorned with a horse-shoe pin and a Fox umbrella.
Fashions in the Field senior judge and celebrity stylist Lulu Wilcox had wanted to see boundary pushing style at Ellerslie Racecourse.
"It's amazing, this is our first experience here and with Fashions in the Field, it's been wonderful," Lucy Olphert, right, said.
Wilcox, sporting a Yvonne Bennett dress and Claire Hahau milliner hat, wasn't disappointed with 2017's entries.
"The standard of entries was incredibly high but ultimately we chose Aleisha. We loved her pant suit, the current height of international fashion and style, but with the added racewear twist," she said.
"She was the epitome of etiquette and poise and this shone through and through. The coordination of fabrics, pattern and colour was simply stunning."
Out enjoying the day were mum and daughter racegoers Daniella and Silvanya Hulme.
"It's awesome, I love it, it's cool doing this the first time with your own daughter," Daniella said.
First time contestant Faye Ige said it the "best experience" taking part and drinking champagne.
"It's wonderful, I'm getting bubbles galore".
Tauranga friends Claudia Hurford and Lucy Olphert were excited to be at Ellerslie.
"It's amazing, this is our first experience here and with Fashions in the Field, it's been wonderful," Olphert said.
Joining Wilcox on the Fashions on the Field judging panel was 2017 Vivia Prix de Fashion winner Hannah Carson, Showroom 22's Murray Bevan and leading menswear buyer Christian Harmes.
