It has been an exciting year so far for the Duchess with the news that her daughter, Princess Eugenie, is to marry fiancé Jack Brooksbank in October.
Royal fans have been speculating on what Eugenie’s wedding dress will look like and the outfit her mother, Sarah will wear for the big day.
The Duchess of York is known for her love of both bright fabrics and flattering black dresses, having showcased a variety of styles over the years.
Fergie became Her Royal Highness The Duchess of York after marrying Prince Andrew in 1986. During this time, the Duchess was often photographed alongside Princess Diana, rocking shoulder pads, hats and floral prints.
Sarah and Princess Diana were very close at one point during their lives, however Diana was seen as a royal fashion icon, and Sarah was not.
A new ITV documentary ’The Royal Wives of Windsor’ revealed “One of the Queen’s private secretaries described her as “vulgar, vulgar, vulgar.”
However, Sarah Ferguson’s unique style was not always seen as negative, the Duchess started a popular Eighties trend with her 'Fergie' hair bow.
The Duchess most iconic look is perhaps that of her wedding dress. Sarah wore a dress made from ivory duchesse satin and featuring heavy beading, designed by Lindka Cierach.
The dress’ beadwork incorporated various symbols including hearts representing romance, anchors and waves representing Prince Andrew's sailing background and bumblebees and thistles, which were taken from Sarah Ferguson's family crest.
Sarah Ferguson has always remained true to her personality when it comes to fashion. The gallery highlights her style transformation throughout the years.
